About The Program: The ChoiceWorks Counseling program is designed to teach clients the skills and the attitude they need to be resilient and successful in spite of many of life’s difficulties.
The focus of the counseling is on teaching clients to build a positive self-image, to communicate effectively, to accept personal responsibility for their behavior, to set and achieve goals, and to resolve internal conflict in a healthy manner. The result is that clients will develop a sense of self-efficacy and personal responsibility.
ChoiceWorks Counseling provides an invaluable set of activities for personal growth and development. Through the use of a cognitive-behavioral approach, clients are taught the art of “reframing,” to see things in a different and more positive manner. Choice-Theory can preclude the client from becoming “emotionally hijacked”, and thus be able to handle life stressors more appropriately. Clients often become overwhelmed with daily stressors and have a tendency to turn to self-destructive behaviors for comfort.
Purpose: ChoiceWorks utilizes a cognitive-behavioral approach that challenges faulty thinking and behavior patterns that prevent the client from attaining normalcy. The purpose is to assist the client to objectively research different possibilities and to act on those possibilities.
Building Strengths in Families and Youth
Building on Strengths: ChoiceWorks communicates the belief of what is “right” with clients, instead of what is “wrong.” What is “right” are the strengths, or abilities, that each individual person possesses. 90% of the messages people receive in life are negative. Focusing on strengths of the client will allow clients to reframe negative views of themselves.
